Bottom Line Up Front

Out of all the IWB holsters we reviewed, We The People’s Custom G43 IWB holster had the best value for money, without compromising on quality. It is a beautiful, comfortable kydex holster that is easy to wear and conceal. A simple, no-frills holster you just can’t go wrong with – a great pick for anyone looking to get into concealed carry.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: Kydex Holster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Active Click RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

We The People IWB holster looks nice and feels tough, built to last. It has a matte finish and is made of strong 0.08″ kydex material that doesn’t bend. The thick plastic clip and solid hardware add to its durability. The holster can accommodate threaded barrels and suppressor-level sights. We The People offer a variety of colors and prints, including bright pink, neon, and gatsby flag, so there’s something for everyone.

Comfort: 4.5/5

Can you wear the holster for hours without feeling it? Almost. You won’t forget it’s there, but everything’s smooth and comfortable. There are no sharp edges or corners on the holster. The open muzzle end doesn’t cause any discomfort or poke you while wearing it. The ride height and angle are adjustable, but I found them comfortable right from the start – no adjustments needed.

Retention: 5/5

The holster passed our retention test – when I turn it upside down, my G43 stays securely inside. Every time you holster it, you can feel and hear a satisfying and sharp click as the holster snaps in around the gun. Unlike cheaper holsters, the click is strong and not weak or mushy. The retention was good out of the box and remained consistent over time. You can easily adjust the retention with a tension screw to make it tighter or looser.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

Both the trigger and barrel of my Glock 43 are fully covered when holstered. It’s impossible to manipulate the trigger while the gun is in the holster. The rigid kydex material provides good protection against bumps, dirt, and drops. The full sweat guard on the inner side of the holster protects the gun from sweat corrosion and prevents any rough edges from touching my waist. The belt clip is sturdy and won’t accidentally come unhooked from the belt.

Ease Of Concealment: 5/5

I didn’t have any issues with the gun printing while wearing jeans and a flannel shirt. The holster sits close to my body, doesn’t protrude, and effectively smooths out any sharp edges under my shirt. The entire rig sits low enough so that the gun’s handle is flush with the body, with nothing sticking out where it shouldn’t.

If you’re planning to carry in the appendix position, I recommend getting their optional claw addon. The claw keeps the gun’s handle closer to your body in appendix carry, enhancing deep concealment. It’s definitely worth the investment.

In summary, this holster is great for concealing a G43 for most people. However, as always, your ability to conceal will depend on your body type, experience with concealed carry, and the clothing you wear.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

I had no trouble getting a proper grip on my Glock 43 for a ready-to-shoot position from any angle. Even 2-second speed draws were easy. The retention doesn’t interfere with the draw, nor does anything else. The adjustable ride height and cant (angle) allow you to find a draw position that suits your style and body, in case it’s not ideal from the start.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

All We The People holsters come with a lifetime warranty and have a one-year return policy for a refund from the day the order was placed.

Keep In Mind

  • The We The People IWB holster is as comfortable as you can expect from a full Kydex holster. However, it’s not as soft against the body as the leather-backed Independence & Hidden Hybrid models reviewed below.
  • The available optics cuts and modifications are limited. If you have a more unique modification on your G43, consider the Hidden Hybrid holsters below. They offer a greater variety of cuts, although they do come at a higher price.

2. Hidden Hybrid IWB – Most Comfortable Glock 43 & 43X Concealed Carry Hybrid IWB Holster

2. Hidden Hybrid IWB Most Comfortable Glock 43 43X Concealed Carry Hybrid IWB Holster
Check Latest Price

Pros:

  • Most comfortable IWB holster we tested
  • Premium build & hardware
  • Any laser/light/optic combo you can think of
  • Good concealment, adjustability, and retention
  • Safety & trigger coverage
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons:

  • Slightly bulkier than full Kydex holsters
  • Premium pricing
  • Delivery time (since they’re handmade)

Bottom Line Up Front

Hidden Hybrid’s Single Clip is the most comfortable Glock 43 holster on our list. It’s one of the best hybrid holsters on the market. A solid choice if you’re looking for something more comfortable than a full Kydex holster, and don’t mind the slight increase in overall holster weight & size (as well as the premium pricing).

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: Kydex & LeatherHolster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Passive RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible: Yes
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

The HH Single Clip is an IWB holster that combines a Kydex shell and a thick Amish leather backer. The Kydex shell is custom-molded to fit your Glock 43, ensuring good retention and protection. The leather backer is soft and molds to your body over time, providing superior comfort compared to pure Kydex holsters.

Out of all the hybrid holsters I’ve tried, this one is my favorite. The Amish leather is thick and soft, with a suede back. It’s thin enough to contour to my body but thick enough to withstand daily wear without stretching. They used 0.093″ kydex for added durability, which is slightly thicker than the standard 0.08″ kydex. The holster also features high-quality stainless steel hardware and a sturdy clip.

To put it simply, everything about this holster in terms of looks, feel, and durability is just about perfect. It’s the best-looking and most comfortable holster on the list. It can also accommodate threaded barrels, suppressor-level sights, and any combination of gun, laser, light, and optic available on the market.

Comfort: 5/5

So, can you wear it for hours and forget it’s even there? Absolutely. Once the leather shapes up after a couple of weeks, the comfort is noticeably better than with full-Kydex holsters. This is especially true if you spend a lot of time sitting. Hidden Hybrid excels in comfort. The padding is soft, it conforms to your body, and there’s no digging or discomfort. Five stars.

Retention: 5/5

Can you turn the holster upside down without the gun falling out? Yes, it easily passes our retention test. The retention is tight, ensuring that my Glock 43 stays securely in place without any shaking or rattling. The retention starts off a bit tight but gradually eases as the leather breaks in, maintaining a comfortable level. The retention adjustment works well if you want to tighten or loosen it.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

Both the trigger and barrel are fully covered when the gun is holstered, making it impossible to access the trigger. The leather backer also acts as a sweat guard, protecting the gun from corrosion. The holster provides excellent protection against bumps and scratches, keeping your gun well-protected. The clip is well-designed, tight, and won’t easily come off your belt, even during intense situations.

Unlike cheaper hybrid holsters, Hidden Hybrid’s Single Clip allows for rapid one-handed reholstering without compromising the trigger. Cheaper hybrids have a risk of the leather backer folding inside the holster shell, but that’s not a concern here. The thick and rounded leather has no sharp edges and won’t get stuck anywhere.

Ease Of Concealment: 4.5/5

I found this holster easy to conceal. It doesn’t protrude under jeans and a plaid flannel shirt. Despite the additional layer of leather, the profile is slim and easily covered. The height is just right, neither too high to cause grip printing nor too low. As always, I highly recommend the optional claw kit for deeper appendix carry concealment, and it’s also affordable.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

The leather is cut around the handle, allowing for a proper grip for a ready-to-shoot position from any angle. Quick draws under 2 seconds are effortless. Both the cant and height are adjustable, although they were perfect for me right out of the box. The retention doesn’t hinder the draw in any way.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

All Hidden Hybrid Holsters come with a lifetime warranty. Additionally, they offer a 30-day “One Question Return Policy” where they only ask for feedback on how they could improve.

Keep In Mind

Hidden Hybrid holsters are pricier compared to other options, but the quality matches the price. Keep in mind that modifications come with an additional cost. At the time of writing, laser/light cuts cost an extra $10, while red dot optics cuts are priced at $30. Ordering holsters with modifications may require some extra production time.

3. We The People Independence Best Leather Glock 43 43X IWB Holster

Pros:

  • Custom-sewn double-layer leather shell
  • Premium build & hardware
  • Adjustable cant & ride height
  • Great comfort
  • All boxes checked on safety, trigger covered

Cons:

  • Premium pricing
  • Limited optics & light options

Bottom Line Up Front

In our opinion, WTP Independence is the best commercially-available full leather holster you can buy at this moment. It is a newer product and the only full-leather holster that made it to our Glock 43 holster picks list. Its adjustability, build quality, and attention to detail make it stand out compared to the other leather holsters.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: LeatherHolster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Passive RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant
Light/Laser Compatible:Red Dot/Optics Compatible:
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

The holster is solidly constructed. The leather is thick, strong, and built to last. The adjustable clips are sturdy and don’t easily bend. The contouring to the shape of the gun is exceptional, the best I’ve seen in a leather holster. And the stitching is top-notch, ensuring longevity. It comes in brown and black leather, with the WTP logo added.

Comfort: 5/5

After about two weeks, the leather fully molds to your body, providing excellent comfort. It’s on par with hybrid holsters and slightly better than full Kydex models. The leather feels soft against the body and effectively reduces the sharp edges of the G43. It’s the only leather holster on the market that allows you to adjust the ride and cant.

Retention: 4.5/5

I can confidently turn the holster upside down with my Glock 43 securely in place. It’s not usual to find such good retention in a leather holster. The fit is snug and precisely tailored to my Glock 43. It’s worth noting that the retention is very tight out of the box intentionally. It will loosen up over time as you wear it.

Safety & Protection: 4.5/5

When holstered, the trigger, safety mechanism, and barrel are all covered, providing reliable protection against bumps and drops. The clips are robust and securely hold the holster to the belt, even during intense situations. Both the inside and outside of the holster feature grain-side leather, which offers superior protection compared to the rougher suede leather commonly found in leather and hybrid holsters.

Ease Of Concealment: 4.5/5

I experienced no printing or protrusion of my Glock 43 when carrying in both side-carry and appendix-carry positions while wearing jeans and a plaid flannel shirt. The holster has a compact footprint and is slim enough to facilitate easy concealment, although it is slightly thicker than Kydex. Overall, I’m satisfied. Please note that a holster claw is not available for this model.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

Obtaining a solid, ready-to-shoot grip on my Glock 43 poses no issues. Once the leather has broken in, I can achieve sub-2-second draws effortlessly. The ride height is suitable, but you can make adjustments using the clips.

Warranty & Customization Support: 5/5

We The People offers a lifetime warranty, and a one-year return policy for a refund from the day the order was placed. The holster works with threaded barrels & suppressor level sights.

Keep In Mind

At present, there are no options for optics or laser cuts. Full leather holsters have their drawbacks, so we don’t recommend them for beginners. These drawbacks include being non-waterproof, requiring leather care and maintenance, lacking click retention, limited availability of optics, Streamlight, and laser cuts, as well as a higher price. However, if you specifically desire a full leather holster for your Glock 43, it will be challenging to find a better option than this one.

Pros:

  • Good safety, great retention
  • Lightweight & minimalist construction
  • Conceals well & comfortable to carry
  • Compatible with most guns & light/optic/laser mods
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons:

  • Premium pricing
  • Would be nice to see a metal clip at this price point
  • Ride height not adjustable

Bottom Line Up Front

Tulster’s Profile IWB holster is our runner-up full-kydex holster pick with very similar features as our #1 pick We The People. The build quality is slightly better, but Tulster’s missing adjustable ride height. It’s a premium kydex holster, so you can expect:

  • Better quality control
  • Sharper contouring lines & refined edges
  • Clean, neat look both inside & outside the holster

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: IWBCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: Kydex Holster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Active Click RetentionHolster Adjustability: Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible: Yes
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

When it comes to Tulster, you’ll notice a distinct difference in quality compared to cheaper Kydex holsters. Everything feels sleek, well-crafted, and a cut above the rest. The attention to detail is evident in the contoured edges of the holster. Each line and millimeter has been carefully considered.

The clip is made of sturdy plastic, thick and resistant to bending. They also have metal clips available for extra on their website. You also have some choice when it comes to the holster’s colors. Their IWB model can accommodate threaded barrels, suppressor-level sights, and they provide the most common optics cuts on their website.

Comfort: 4.5/5

The holster provides good comfort whether you’re sitting, standing, or walking. While you can feel it on your person, it doesn’t cause any discomfort. The rounded and buffed edges prevent any digging or prodding. The muzzle doesn’t extend and feels comfortable against the thigh. Overall, no complaints. Worth pointing out – it loses some points here because the ride height is not adjustable.

Retention: 5/5

The retention is outstanding, accompanied by an audible click when holstering your gun. It passes the test – you can confidently turn the holster upside down without the gun falling out. The retention is properly set right out of the box and remains consistent over time. If you desire a tighter or looser fit, there’s a retention screw for easy adjustment.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

The holster effectively protects the trigger guard and barrel when the gun is holstered. There’s no way to access the trigger, and the kydex material doesn’t bend. The Profile IWB features a full-sized sweat guard that shields the gun from corrosion. The clip’s tension is excellent, making it highly challenging to pull the entire rig off the belt, even in a physical confrontation.

Ease Of Concealment: 5/5

I encountered no issues with the holster printing or showing while wearing jeans and a flannel shirt. The design is streamlined, minimalist, and lightweight. For those planning to carry in the appendix position, I recommend considering the holster “sidekick” claw, available for an additional cost.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

Drawing the gun in under 2 seconds poses no difficulties. I can achieve a secure, ready-to-fire grip from any position. While the ride height is not adjustable, the holster sits at a comfortable height that doesn’t impede the ease of draw. The retention doesn’t interfere with the draw either.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

Tulster stands behind their holsters with a lifetime warranty. Additionally, they offer a 30-day no-questions-asked returns policy.

Keep In Mind

The ride height is not adjustable, although it shouldn’t be a concern as the holster sits at a comfortable height. However, if adjustable ride height is a priority, you may want to consider the WTP IWB holster instead of this one.

Pros:

  • Good retention
  • Safety & trigger coverage
  • Strong paddle, built to last
  • Affordable
  • Fastest delivery times on the market

Cons:

  • Sweat guard protrudes slightly above the holster, not really an issue

Bottom Line Up Front

Rounded Gear (Concealment Express) OWB Paddle holster is a simple and durable open carry holster that is custom-molded for Glock 43/43X. We picked it over other OWB holsters on the market because of its value for money and simplicity. It’s a good pick if you’re looking for a good & simple open-carry holster that gets the job done.

Side note: Rounded Gear currently offers the fastest shipping in the Kydex holster industry.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: OWBCarry Type: Open Carry
Holster Material: Kydex Holster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Active Click RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible: Yes
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ Lifetime

Looks, Feel & Durability: 5/5

The 0.08″ kydex shell of this holster is solid and well-crafted. The clip/paddle, which are typically the most vulnerable parts of a kydex holster, are built with strength in mind. The holster features an open muzzle end to accommodate threaded barrels and provides support for suppressor-level sights. They also offer models with common optics/laser cuts. I have the matte black version, but they have various colors available on their website.

Comfort: 5/5

If concealment is not a concern, this one’s the most comfortable holster on our list. Comfort is a notable advantage of open carry holsters. As this holster is located outside the waistband, it minimizes contact with the body. Once you get accustomed to the weight, it’s easy to forget that it’s there. It also doesn’t restrict your choice of clothing, allowing you to wear tight pants or slim shirts if desired.

Retention: 5/5

Retention has always been excellent with Rounded Gear holsters. The fit is snug, ensuring the gun doesn’t rattle when holstered. You can confidently turn the holster upside down without the gun falling out. There’s an audible click upon holstering, providing assurance that your Glock 43 is securely in place. The retention is reliable from the beginning, and there’s a tension screw available for adjustments if desired.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

This holster offers superb trigger coverage and protection. There’s no way to access the trigger when the gun is holstered. The durable shell effectively shields your gun from bumps and scratches in case of a drop. The robust plastic paddle provides exceptional retention and is highly resistant to being pulled off the belt, even during physical altercations. Additionally, a full-size sweat guard protects the gun from corrosion.

Ease Of Concealment: 1/5

OWB holsters are typically not intended for concealed carry. However, if you prefer, you can cover it with a hoodie or an untucked shirt to conceal it. It will function as a CCW holster as long as it remains covered. It’s essential to be aware of the laws in your state, as it may be challenging to keep it covered at all times during your daily activities. Failure to do so can result in serious legal consequences, so exercise caution and ensure you understand the regulations.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

This holster offers the fastest draw speed and easiest gun access of all the options on this list because of its outside-the-waistband design. Your draw speed will also be more consistent. The adjustable ride and cant allow you to customize the positioning to better suit your body and drawing style.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

Rounded Gear Holsters come with a lifetime warranty, providing added peace of mind. Additionally, they offer a 30-day exchange and return policy.

Keep In Mind

The sweat guard slightly protrudes above the slide of the gun. This is not an issue for most users, but it’s worth mentioning.

6. CrossBreed Modular Belly Band – Best Glock 43 & 43x Belly Band Holster

6. CrossBreed Modular Belly Band Best Glock 43 43x Belly Band Holster
Check Latest Price

Pros:

  • Kydex shell protecting the trigger
  • Pockets for phone & 2 clips
  • Anti-slip, anti-microbial band
  • Comfortable & easy to wear
  • Great for running, sitting, driving
  • Comfortable draw
  • Lifetime warranty

Cons:

  • Better for smaller guns
  • Takes time to get used to
  • Can get sweaty in warmer states

Bottom Line Up Front

CrossBreed Modular Belly Band is one of the few belly band holsters with proper safety & protection features. Your G43 lives in a hybrid holster shell that is attached to the elastic belly band – giving you all the benefits of a belly band without the safety issues. In addition to safety, comfort features such as an anti-slip surface & adjustable ride/cant make CrossBreed’s Modular Belly Band stand out from the competition.

Features & The Nitty-Gritty

Holster Type: Belly BandCarry Type: Concealed Carry
Holster Material: Kydex & NeopreneHolster Fit: Custom Fit
Retention Type: Passive RetentionHolster Adjustability: Ride, Cant, Retention
Light/Laser Compatible: YesRed Dot/Optics Compatible:
Made In: ✅ AmericaSafety: ✅ Trigger & Barrel Protected
Hand Orientation: ✅ Left & Right HandedWarranty: ✅ 1 Year

Looks, Feel & Durability: 4/5

The hybrid kydex-leather shell of this belly band holster is secured to the band with a strong and sticky 3″ Velcro strap. When wrapped over the holster, everything remains securely in place. The durability of the band is good for a belly band, but the neoprene material will naturally wear out over time. It’s rated for 25 washes.

Comfort: 4/5

Putting on the band is easy, and it offers comfortable wear in most situations. It’s also simple to adjust and reposition while on the move. While wearing it, I’m aware of the band’s presence, but my gun doesn’t cause any discomfort or pain. The anti-slip surface effectively prevents the band from shifting sideways during wear. The band is available in small (29-36 inches), medium (36-42 inches), and large (42-52 inches) sizes.

Safety & Protection: 5/5

The shell of this belly band holster provides reliable safety for the gun. Both the trigger and barrel are covered, and when properly fastened, it’s impossible to pull the shell off the band. The level of safety and protection offered is excellent for a belly band holster, comparable to waistband holsters.

Ease Of Concealment: 4/5

Concealment is not an issue when wearing this rig. The band, when wrapped around the holster, keeps it close to the body, making it more suitable for deep concealment compared to other belly bands. The grip of my Glock 43 does protrude slightly, but overall, it works well. It may provide better concealment with a smaller-sized gun.

Ease Of Draw: 5/5

Getting my hand inside the elastic waistband to establish a proper grip before drawing is easy. Pulling up the shirt does not hinder access to the firearm. The height and angle of the holster shell can be adjusted using Velcro, allowing for customization according to individual needs. Overall, drawing from this holster is straightforward, with no obstructions.

Warranty & Returns: 5/5

CrossBreed holsters come with a lifetime warranty, providing peace of mind. Additionally, they offer a 30-day exchange and return policy.

Keep In Mind

During summer, sweating, heat, and weight distribution may pose challenges with this setup, particularly if you reside in the southern states.

The belly band may ride up when sitting down. This is a characteristic of this type of holster, as it lacks a clip to keep it in place like a waistband holster.

Competition & Honorary Mentions: Other Glock 43/43X Holsters We Tested

Holster Brands
  • Vedder LightTuck – Very similar to Tulster. Because we could only pick one, we picked Tulster. But Vedder makes great holsters and you won’t go wrong with them.
  • Tier 1 Concealed Xiphos V2 – T1C is another premium kydex holster maker and we only had space for one premium kydex pick in the list. They’re quite pricy, and not for everyone.
  • Dara Holsters – DARA is a well-known premium kydex holster manufacturer that we couldn’t include because of limited space in this review at this time.
  • Craft Holsters IWB Concealed – Their leather holsters are good, but not as good as WTP’s Independence.
  • Versacarry – Versacarry have different models both kydex and leather, but the lackluster trigger guard on some of them and a dubious reputation (them recommending you to carry your gun unloaded) make this brand difficult to recommend.
  • Sneaky Pete – Sneaky Pete makes small holster “boxes” or “bags” that you put your gun into. We’d recommend going with DeSantis over them.
  • Galco Gunleather – Probably the most well-known leather holster manufacturer on this side of the ocean. WTP independence and Hidden Hybrid are simply better for most people.
  • Urban Carry – Urban Carry G3 is a BWB – below the waistband – holster with the gun being located below your waistline. Slow & dangerous draw is the main reason why we can’t recommend it.
  • Boraii – Boraii makes minimalist kydex pocket holsters. Can’t recommend because of unnecessary printing.
  • JM4 Tactical – JM4 has done some innovations with their magnetic holsters, but we didn’t include them at this time because of controversial reviews.
  • Bravo Concealment – Known for affordable kydex OWB & IWB holsters, we can’t recommend them at this time because our research revealed durability issues on certain models.
  • Alien Gear ShapeShift Rig – It’s a good rig that does everything you want. We chose not to include it because you’ll get better value for your money going with individual holsters.

Side Note: We’re also building the biggest list of holster brands on the internet, if you’re interested in learning more.

How To Choose A Good Glock 43 Holster: Buyer’s Guide

Side note: We tried to write in an easy way, but if there’s still something that you find difficult to understand, here’s a quick list of holster terminology for beginners.

Why You Should Trust Us: We Know Holsters

To learn more about how we work and earn our living, read more about who we are or take a look at our editorial guidelines (work in progress!)

When it comes to guns and concealed carry, I know a thing or two. My friends even call me “the holster guy”. So, I’ve been in and around the gun industry and community for about six years, and concealed carrying for the past nine. I’ve attended multiple courses covering advanced concealed carry, home defense, and advanced handgun immersion. I stay on top of the latest trends and changes in the industry – both legal and new gear coming out.

And I’ve probably carried around 50 different holsters throughout my life with different firearms (that’s a lot of money spent, I know). Not to mention different clothes, carry positions, and the various add-ons that I’ve tried (most didn’t work).

I know what works for me, and I’ve developed a good sense of what works for people in general with open and concealed carry. I’m more than happy to help you avoid the mistakes that I’ve made in my journey by writing for Looserounds.

How We Picked & Tested Holsters

Here’s how we narrowed down our search for the best Glock 43 holsters.

  • We narrowed down the initial selection using our (1) staff’s experience (we already know which holsters are good), and (2) trusted YouTube channels, online magazines, and Reddit concealed carry communities that follow the latest holster releases.
  • We limited our selection to holsters made out of hard plastic, hybrid models, and an occasional full leather model if we could see that it punches above its weight. We excluded full nylon designs, small of back holsters, and Blackhawk SERPA holsters. We also decided to include one belly band pick because many folks are looking for those.
  • The holsters we picked had to be custom-molded for the G43 handgun, built to last, and check all the main safety features (trigger guard coverage).

With that list narrowed down, we were left with 22 holsters.

  • For this review guide, I tested those holsters wearing them as I would normally. I wore the holsters with a variety of outfits. I wore them around home & outside. I drove to work with them. I worked out with some of them.
  • Each Glock 43 holster we reviewed was tested & rated on: comfort, safety, retention, ease of concealment, ease of draw, build quality & durability, customization & adjustability, warranty, price & value for money.

Our Glock 43/43X Holster Evaluation Criteria

Holster Comfort

A good holster is comfortable enough that you can wear it for hours and almost forget it’s there. If your holster is not comfortable, you’ll be tempted to leave the entire rig at home. Any handgun worn on your person is better than the one you left in the gun safe.

Our holster comfort tests included sitting with the holsters for hours, driving long distances, going on runs and exercising, going for groceries, etc. I wore different clothing, but most of the time jeans with a flannel or jeans shirt over them.

Bodies are different, so in addition to carrying them myself (six foot three, average build), I let Dave from marketing have a quick go with them as well. Dave’s on the bigger side at 240 pounds, and if either me or Dave found any significant comfort issues with the holsters – we scrapped them from the list.

Safety & Protection

A safe holster should always cover the trigger of your Glock 43 to prevent accidental discharge. It needs to be sturdy, so you can’t manipulate the trigger by pushing through the material. All the holsters we reviewed provide complete trigger coverage.

Since your Glock 43 will spend most of its time in the holster, it should also offer reliable protection against bumps, falls, dirt, and sweat. Each of the holsters we included offers a secure, custom fit for the Glock 43, providing excellent coverage against these elements.

When evaluating hybrid holsters, we made sure the leather backer couldn’t bend or slide inside the kydex shell during rapid reholstering. We excluded fabric nylon holsters, Blackhawk SERPA holsters, and small of back holsters due to safety concerns. You can find more information about this in our post on holster safety.

Lastly, an important aspect that online reviews often overlook is the attachment system of the holster, particularly the clip. If the clip is weak, the entire holster can come off when you bend down to pick up your child or pet a dog. I’ve experienced this before. Therefore, I thoroughly tested the durability and holding strength of all the clips to ensure that the holster remained securely attached to the belt.

Retention

Holster retention refers to how well the holster holds onto your Glock 43. To test retention, simply holster your gun and flip the holster upside down. If the gun remains securely in place, the holster passes the retention test. All the holsters on our list have passed this test.

Retention is crucial because defensive situations can involve various movements like falling, running, crawling, bending over, or climbing obstacles. With good retention, even if you encounter sudden movements, your gun will stay safely holstered.

Here’s a quick summary of the different levels of holster retention:

Passive Retention & Click Retention (Level 1): This applies to concealed carry and relies on the friction between the holster and your gun. Most holsters allow you to adjust the tightness of passive retention. Kydex holsters, in particular, provide a satisfying “click” when your gun is inserted, indicating a secure fit.

Duty Holster Retention (Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4): These holsters are equipped with additional retention devices such as manual straps, covers, or thumb breaks for enhanced security. Duty holsters with retention straps are commonly used by police and law enforcement personnel. While these devices may slightly slow down your draw speed, they significantly reduce the risk of someone taking your gun from you and using it against you.

Ease Of Concealment

A good holster for concealed carry will practically vanish under your clothes. However, whether your gun becomes visible or not depends on your body shape, the clothes you wear, the type of holster you use, and your daily activities. Loose-fitting clothing can work with any holster. For tighter outfits, your best choice is a minimal inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster carried in the appendix position (AIWB).

To assess ease of concealment, we kept our testing straightforward. We observed how each holster printed under a pair of jeans and a regular-fit flannel shirt. If a holster showed any signs of being visible through this combination of clothing, we eliminated it from consideration.

If you’re considering carrying in the appendix position, it’s worth considering a holster claw. This attachment enhances deeper concealment. See our post on pros and cons of using a holster claw and when it’s most advantageous to utilize one for more info.

Ease Of Draw

The best Glock 43 concealed carry holster will you to efficiently and smoothly draw your firearm with a proper, ready-to-shoot grip (also called positive grip) from any position with one hand.

I did speed draws on all of the holsters we tested and noted if anything hindered my ability to get my gun out quickly. But no matter how good your new holster is, you’ll need to practice your speed draws and threat focusing to make everything work efficiently.

Holster Material

Hard plastic holsters, such as those made from Kydex, Boltaron, or Polymer, are the top choice for most Glock 43 users. They offer durability, affordability, and customization options that surpass leather and fabric holsters. These holsters are typically custom-molded to fit the gun perfectly and provide the most features and adjustability. During our evaluation, we thoroughly examined the Kydex thickness and the quality of the clips on each hard holster.

Leather holsters, on the other hand, offer a softer feel and gradually conform to your body over time. A well-made leather holster, crafted from thick leather, can be just as reliable as Kydex for the Glock 43, albeit at a higher price point. It’s important to note that leather holsters require some breaking-in, usually around 100-150 draws, but once properly broken in, they can serve you well for years.

Hybrid holsters combine two materials, typically a Kydex shell for firearm retention and a leather backer for enhanced comfort. We carefully assessed the thickness of both the Kydex and leather components, as well as the quality of the hardware and clips, to ensure the hybrid holsters we reviewed were sturdy and reliable.

As for full fabric holsters, made from materials like nylon or polymer, we don’t recommend them for the Glock 43 or any other firearm, unless you specifically need a pocket carry option. These holsters often compromise trigger protection and tend to have subpar retention capabilities.

Holster Adjustability & Customization

Differences in body size, hand size, and personal preferences can make or break how well a holster works for you. Holster adjustability allows you to customize the cant, ride height, and retention to suit your individual needs. That’s why we prioritized choosing adjustable models for our list. We also rated the manufacturers who have optics & laser cuts available higher in our scoring system.

Warranty & Returns

We only included holsters that are made in the USA with a lifetime warranty in our list. Fortunately, most companies fit the bill these days. Most also offer 30-day no-questions-asked returns.

Price & Value For Money

We tried to keep our picks at a manageable price point – most land somewhere between $50 and $150 — and offer different types of carry. As a rough rule of thumb, I don’t recommend holsters cheaper than $50 for Glock 43 or any other gun. All premium-priced holsters included in the list had to justify their premium price (and they did).

Overview Of Different Holster Types Suitable For Glock 43

IWB/AIWB (Inside The Waistband / Appendix) Holsters are the best pick for concealed carrying your Glock 43. You can carry them strong side (4 o’clock) or appendix (1 o’clock). These holsters are reliable, easy to hide, lightweight, and provide quick access. Check out the pros and cons of IWB vs AIWB carry for more information.

OWB (Outside The Waistband) Holsters are worn on the outside of the waistband, either on your belt or between the belt and your body. They are commonly used for open carry, but can also be concealed under a long shirt or jacket. OWB holsters offer greater durability with thicker materials and enable faster draws with your Glock 43. Belt, paddle, and pancake holsters are different types to consider. Explore the pros and cons of IWB vs OWB carry for further insights.

A belly band holster is a wide neoprene belt that wraps around your body, providing a way to secure your Glock 43. It works well in specific situations such as running, gym workouts, or when a belt carry is not feasible due to uniform requirements at work.

Shoulder holsters, typically made of leather, can be tricky to set up correctly. They require careful adjustment and are not the best choice for most people seeking concealed carry options for their Glock 43. Consequently, we have not included a shoulder holster for the Glock 43 at this time.

Chest holsters, worn on the chest rather than under the shoulder, offer easier setup than shoulder holsters but are more challenging to conceal. They are useful when you need quick access to your gun without hindering your movement, like during motorcycle rides or hikes.

Thigh/Drop Leg Holsters are open carry holsters where the Glock 43 is attached to your thigh. They provide easy access, good draw speed, and distribute the weight away from your waist to your thigh. These holsters are often preferred by law enforcement and the military.

Ankle holsters are not suitable for the Glock 43 due to its size. They are better suited for carrying smaller backup guns if necessary. However, ankle holsters have drawbacks, including slow draw speed, limitations on drawing while moving, concerns with dust and dirt, and the need to wear long pants at all times.

Glock 43 Concealed Carry Tips

Concealed carry is not easy. You will need an adjustment period unless you want your license to get revoked for some stupid stuff.

You’ll need to:

  • Review the clothing that you wear day-to-day
  • Find a holster that works for you and your lifestyle (IWB for most)
  • Pick a concealed carry position that works for you (usually IWB or AIWB)
  • Get used to having your gun on you in public places
  • Review the activities you do while carrying

Note: Here’s a short list of F.A.Q.s to give you the rundown on concealed carry. Also, here’s a list of our concealed carry tips

Then there’s practice. To use your gun effectively when the need arises. That includes:

  • Regular maintenance of your gun and ammunition. Many folks carry the same magazine for 2 years, not realizing that primers and powder are susceptible to extreme heat, cold, and moisture. Changing carry ammo every 6 months is a good rule of thumb.
  • Proper grip while drawing
  • Practicing basic extraction and reholstering
  • One-shot drills
  • Accuracy practice
  • Speed draws
  • Threat focusing

What Are A Holster’s Ride & Cant? Which Cant Is Best?

Holster ride height cant chart

The holster’s cant is the holster’s angle. There are 3 main holster cants/angles that you should know about:

  1. Neutral Cant: The top of the holster is directly above the bottom of the holster. This cant is great for carrying on the side of your hip and on your strong side. Drawing from this position is a natural movement and is comfortable.
  2. Positive/Forward Cant (also known as the FBI cant): The grip of the holster is angled forward. This is best used on your strong side, usually in the 4 o’clock or kidney position.
  3. Negative/Reverse Cant: The grip of the holster is angled backward. This position makes gripping your gun easier when carrying cross-draw or appendix. The grip will be shifted toward your hand for easier drawing.

Holsters’ ride is the holster’s height.

  • A higher ride will usually give you a faster draw. The downside is that it potentially compromises on comfort & concealment.
  • A lower ride can be better for concealment and comfort. Especially with appendix carry.
